noun plural précis, (C) a statement which gives the main idea of a piece of writing, speech etc: a concise and accurate precis — précis verb (T) precise /prI'saIs/ adjective
1 precise details, costs, measurements etc are exact: The precise details of the sale have not yet been released.
2 (only before noun) used to emphasize that something happens exactly in a particular way or that you are describing something correctly and exactly: Just at that precise moment her husband walked in. | The precise nature of the job will be made clear when you start.
3 to be precise used to show that you are giving more exact details relating to something you have just said: My parents live abroad - in North Borneo to be precise.
4 someone who is precise is very careful about small details or about the way they behave
